We understand that all children are different. Some loveÌýsport. Some don’t. We believe in the power of play to unlock children’s potential.Ìý
ÌýIt is important to beÌýactive throughout our livesÌýand to start early.ÌýÌýIn their early years, (birth to 5 years) children shouldÌýbe active forÌý180ÌýminutesÌýeachÌýday. Providing young children withÌýfun engagingÌýchancesÌýto think creatively and experience moving, jumping, throwing, catching and kicking can help to build confidenceÌýandÌýunderstandingÌýthat can last aÌýlifetime.Ìý
Children are naturally curious andÌýenjoyÌýdeveloping their own games. To encourage them toÌýdevelop movementÌýand thinkingÌýskills, children should be provided withÌýtheÌýspace to play,ÌýtheÌýresources and equipment to play with, and the encouragement to be creative.ÌýRather thanÌýoffering childrenÌýprescriptive games targeting specific skill sets,ÌýweÌýshould encourageÌýand supportÌýthem to exploreÌýtheir ownÌýideas aboutÌýmovement play.Ìý
We are seeing aÌýworrying trend of children starting their school lifeÌýasÌýoverweightÌýorÌýobese.Ìý The rates of childhoodÌýType II diabetesÌýareÌýincreasing year on year.ÌýÌýAccording to researchers, many children in schools are lacking the necessary physical skills to enable them to get the most out of their education. In primary schools across the country, children have been observed lacking the core strength needed to sit still, concentrate and support themselves in a seated position.Ìý
We are helping our network of club charities to support pre-school children and their parents.
